After a hospital apt at Jimmies in Leeds, I decided to treat myself and on the way home I stopped for some nourishment at the Brighouse Merrie England Coffee Shop.

I decided to have a Bacon and Tomato sandwich on buttered teacake with a medium size soup.

The Bacon and Tomato sandwich were killer as they always are from the Merrie England, but I'm afraid the Vegetable soup was slightly disappointing.

In fact, I'd suggest that the Merrie England is the best Not in Elland sandwich shop in Brighouse, but check what soup they are selling before commiting :-)

Has anyone else got any recommendations for sandwich shops that are not in Elland?

Just an update for everyone – Stay clear of the Chicken and Leek soup from the Mezzer (Merrie England).  There is absolutely nothing Chicken and Leek like about it and neither is it good in anyway.

In fact I'd rather have minestrone, which is pretty much gop in a bowl:

Look at it.  If you were sick in a bowl and then sprinkled some cheese gratings on top, that is exactly what it would look and taste like
